Kayla + Landon

April 23, 2016 | Swann Lake Stables | Birmingham, Alabama

When I first began to look through the images of Kayla and Landon's wedding day, I almost had no idea how I would ever be able to just choose a handful to share. I wanted to share them all! (I can thank Alex and Sara Lucas of AL Weddings for making the decision that much more difficult! haha) Part of the reason for that is because this particular wedding was of such great importance in my life - this was the wedding of my cousin, my dance partner through the years, my fellow dreamer, and my best friend. It was my honor and privilege to be the Month-Of Coordinator and Maid of Honor to this sweet girl and these snapshots will always be a treasure.

Kayla has always been a romantic at heart (must run in the family) and her wedding day showed this to the tenth degree. She chose a color palette of white, ivory, and blush pink with pale green accents in the floral arrangements. Carol Harris of Lillie Jane's did an exceptional job on the floral creations of the day - whether it was the magnificent arbor, fireplace detailing, or bouttonieres - each detail was dripping with romance.

The bride's dress was a gorgeous and fluffy gown from Ivory & White while the bridesmaids wore shades of blush. Oh, and don't let me forget to mention the bride's cowgirl boots - a hint at her fun-loving personality!

The ceremony was delivered by the bride's uncle, a pastor from Jacksonville, Florida, and I don't believe there was a dry eye in the vicinity. The ceremony acknowledged the love that Kayla and Landon now shared and the love of their Savior, Jesus Christ. It was beautiful and thoughtful, and a blessing to be a part of.

After the ceremony, guests entered the stables to enjoy the most delicious meal catered by Jim N' Nick's, cake from Olexa's, and cupcakes from Gigi's (Notice the superhero theme? That's a special nod to Landon's love of superheroes and I LOVE it!) The evening was full of mingling, dancing, and laughter. It was simply a good night to be together and enjoy the happy couple - basically, what I call a successful day! The two lovebirds left amidst some heartily thrown rice and have been enjoying marital bliss ever since.

Leanne + Brett

Wedding Day: May 7, 2016

I have been thoroughly enjoying the warm weather of late, and thinking of all things bright and sunny always reminds me of pretty summer weddings. Leanne and Brett's Southern Farmhouse wedding is the perfect example of such a wedding.

Leanne was such a sweet bride to work with and helping her coordinate her big day was an absolute treat! Her wedding gown was incredibly romantic with an underlayer of light blush - a nod to her very girly self, which I love! The florals provided by Linda Bearden of Flowers from the Heart were refreshingly feminine and dainty.

Leanne and Brett opted to do a First Look - a great option for couples who want to go straight into the reception after the ceremony. It was a joyful moment and the pictures captured by Stephanie Benzaia give me all the feels! Such a sweet way to begin the day.

Brett's fun groomsmen wore light beige suits and the pretty maids were dressed in lilac gowns, coordinating with their bouquets. All in all, it was a light pastel color scheme and it was a beautiful way to welcome in the early summer season.

After a sweet ceremony overlooking a distant lake, Leanne and Brett's family and friends walked up to the adorable barn at Walters Farms to a delicious meal and gorgeous cakes. The succulent accent on the bride's cake was a favorite detail of mine!

Bride, Groom, and guests had a joyful evening filled with dancing and laughter - despite the humid weather that also comes with the beginning of those long summer days. To end the night, Leanne and Brett left amidst the loud shouts of congratulations and Alabama and Auburn shakers waving them goodbye. Another perfect ending to a truly Southern, truly Alabama wedding.

Lindzi + Nathan

November 6, 2016

Let me begin this post by trying to tell you how difficult of a time I had selecting the images to show to you! Wesley and Emma Teague, of W&E Photographie are so incredibly talented and the way they captured Lindzi and Nathan's wedding day has me grinning from ear to ear.

The day started very leisurely and I do not think I have ever seen a couple more calm. Lindzi and Nathan spent the morning enjoying the company of their family members; especially since both of their families had flown in especially for the occasion. You see, it is an absolute miracle that Lindzi and Nathan met each other and fell in love because they grew up on opposite sides of the world! Lindzi is your classic Georgia Peach (with a little extra sugar sprinkled on top) and Nathan is a fun-loving guy raised by missionary parents in Africa. They met while working at a Christian Summer Camp in the hills of north Georgia, and the rest of the story is history from there.

Since Lindzi and Nathan met and fell in love at camp, they wanted to choose a location that reflected that, while still being fairly accessible. Thus, the 4-H Center in Columbiana was the perfect location! The weather on the day of the wedding could not have been more gorgeous and the autumn leaves provided the most pristine backdrop to a love that was just as spectacular.

In addition to being amazing people, Lindzi and Nathan also have the most precious and fun personalities. This fact was displayed in all aspects of their special day. I especially loved the "funky socks" that Nathan gave to his groomsmen.

Lindzi is simply put - an elegant soul. Suzanne Martenson, of Stems & Styles, beautifully displayed Lindzi's personality through her amazing floral arrangements. I will admit that when I was able to hold the bouquet, I might have gone googly-eyed at the natural decadence. Everything was absolutely stunning!

After a heartfelt ceremony conducted by Nathan's father (how sweet, right?!), all of the guests walked over to the pavillion, which is just up the hill from the most stunning lake.

The guests sipped on colorful sodas (see the two Dr. Pepper's? Those were used for the Bride & Groom's Toast! I know - super cute!), and munched on delicious food from Chick-fil-a - another nod to the important people in their lives as Nathan previously worked at Chick-fil-a. Talk about the best reception food ever!! Everyone mingled, danced, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life on a night that was joyous to all who were there.

Lindy + Mitch

It's about time, but not too late. After a pleasant run-in with Mitch's mother today, it occurred to me that my first wedding REALLY should be the focus of my first blog post. It was just that wonderful and monumental.

June 6, 2015 was like any typical Southern summer day - it was sunny and scorching hot outside. However, that fact did not affect the smiles and attitude of this sweet couple in the least. This literally was the day the Lord had made, and they were going to rejoice and be glad in it. And rejoice they did!

Lindy and her precious bridesmaids got ready at the Heritage House - a picturesque Victorian home built in 1907, and conveniently located just down the road from the Church.

Her bridesmaids were all adorned in the cutest floral blue nightgowns. Talk about being adorable, comfortable, and functional - a "win, win" in my book for a Southern day! Before Lindy put on her amazing tulle, ball-gown style wedding dress - Lindy surprised everyone by putting on her mother's own wedding gown. This sweet moment is actually one of my favorite images of the day. Thank you to Eric & Jamie Photography for capturing these two so perfectly!

Get ready to grab your nearest handkerchief (because that is what any good Southerner has in their pocket or purse, instead of tissue), because the next image is oh so sweet as pie.

Girls who have been blessed to have an older brother know that such a relationship is special in more than one way. It's not just that this is a blood-relation; this is the boy who you first followed around; who first teased you and then immediately said he was sorry; who was way too protective on your first date, and who you honestly have wrapped around your finger. Lindy is blessed enough to have two such older brothers who love her so deeply that their first look with her won a national photography contest.

Well, it came time for the first look with Mitch; and let's just say that pure perfection happened. But, let's step back a minute. I had the privilege of attending Lindy + Mitch's rehearsal dinner the night before, and it was overwhelming to hear how beautifully God had interwoven their stories. Lindy is the creator and owner of a local organization aimed at teaching life and social skills and providing continuing education to adults with developmental disabilities. Mitch is a teacher and coach of students with special needs. They are both so passionate about their professions and when their paths finally crossed - it was only a matter of time before these two fell in love.

They chose the inside of Branch Cove Christ Church for their first look (and ceremony), and what resulted was a culmination of refined beauty and class. Delicate and natural floral arrangements by the talented Alabama florist, Ricky Whitley, were a welcome addition to the already gorgeous chapel, and traditional bouquets of white hydrangeas and blush roses accented the eggshell blue bridesmaid dresses ideally.

Lindy and Mitch invited several of their students to also partake in the ceremony as honorary bridesmaids and groomsmen. And to say that Lindy's flower girl was absolutely adorable would be the understatement of the century!

As Lindy walked down the aisle of the packed-out chapel, there were only happy tears and big smiles for the soon to be husband and wife. The service was moving and focused on Lindy and Mitch's mutual love for the Lord and each other.

The reception began with a bang as over 400 guests filed out of the Church and into the courtyard and reception hall. Wood-fired pizza, cooked onsite, was immediately consumed; as were the desserts of ice cream, apple pie, and wedding cake (talk about a stunning cake, right?! The beauty below was created by Kim Wiggins of Cakes by Kim).

The guests danced the night away and celebrated the amazing duo that is Lindy + Mitch. When the happy couple made their grand exit to a never-ending line of sparklers, there was a roar of cheering that was sure to be heard a mile away.
